FOOD CULTURE FROM THE
OAK WOODLANDS IN SWEDEN

WILL THERE BE A FESTIVAL THIS YEAR?

First, a big thank you to everyone who participated and visited the Eklandskapet's Wild Boar Festival last time. We are currently regrouping and will be back as soon as we have more magic potion and wild boar for a new festival.

NEWS

AFRICAN SWINE FEVER

As we have not planned for a wild boar festival in 2023, the African swine fever does not affect our work. We can only regret that the disease has reached Sweden and that we are closely monitoring the situation.

African swine fever doesn't infect humans, but it's highly dangerous for all pigs, both wild boars and domestic pigs. Swedish wild boar meat and Swedish pork are still safe and secure food. In other words, you don't need to empty your freezer of pork or wild boar meat, throw away what you've bought in the store, or avoid that dish when dining at a restaurant.

In collaboration with Bjärka-Säby Gunnarsbo Agriculture AB, restaurants in the oak landscape, regional food artisans, and members of Östgötamat, as well as volunteers from near and far, a festival is organized for food enthusiasts from all over the country, promoting the emerging food culture in the Oak Landscape. With the wild boar at its core, we aim to highlight the rural areas south of Linköping as one of the most intriguing food regions in Sweden.

The festival encompasses a Main Stage that vibrates with new events every half hour. A Food Court offering dishes from all the oak landscape's restaurants. A village challenge for the communities around lake Rängen. A lokal food craft market featuring ingredients and artisanal foods from the oak landscape. What sets our food festival apart is our significant emphasis on children with a special "Kids' Area brimming with adventures and fun activities. Everything culminates in The Big Wild Boar Feast, where whole roasted wild boars are served with live music taking the stage.
